Darkness and light is a project that was shot in July 2023 at the Red clay studios, In the Northern region of Ghana. In frame is my model Joel Gyamera, who I met at the gallery as a tour guide and immediately connected with to bring forth this project. it is a project that embodies the good and bad we face as individuals and how they make us who we are. Light representing hope, joy and faith whereas darkness represents despair, pain and sorrow. The “Yin and Yang” of life.
The careful composition of solitary in collaboration with light and shade transcends a sense of loneliness, representing battles fought alone by the individual.
Life is a solitary voyage, a journey where we traverse the uncharted waters of existence alone. In this odyssey, light and darkness are our constant companions, symbolic of the dichotomy that defines our human experience. The presence of light represents the moments of joy, love, and all that is good in our world. It's the warmth of shared laughter, the tender embrace of affection, and the victories that uplift our spirits.
Conversely, darkness encompasses the trials, doubts, and burdens we must bear. It's the shadowy corners of sorrow and adversity, where we confront our deepest fears. The balance of these two forces shapes our unique path, teaching us resilience and reminding us that, in the end, we each tread the solitary path of life, crafting our own story in the interplay of light and darkness.
